Did anyone do them, was it worth it?

The photographer we had for our wedding does Maternity and Baby pics.  She has a package where you get 4 sessions through babies first year, one newborn, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.  You can add a maternity package to this too.  Is it worth it to have professional pics do you think?  I want to do as much as I can to document this pregnancy (fear I will never get pregnant again probably)  but I'm not sure about maternity session.

Also...when did you do your maternity shoot if you did one?

I think I will do some non professional ones but I won't pay to have it done.  If I do I will go to Portrait Innovations and get a $10 package of one pose.  That is also where the baby is going to get it's done because they are really good and not too expensive.

Nah, didn't feel like forking out the cash since babies are expensive enough, I did my weekly belly shots just for my own fun, but didn't care about anything professional. I wasn't very fond of my body/belly either though. So I certainly wouldn't have displayed them or anything.

See, it is expensive...but I just feel compelled.

The photographer shot our wedding also, and does the most beautiful pictures, I think that would be neat to to have her follow us through our journey.

I also am so afraid that I will never be pregnant again, and feel the need to document as much of this as possible...I hate pictures, but I absolutely love my wedding pics, so I feel like maybe if I get these done I will remember feeling good about myself that day.  I know we would to the professional pics of Sprout with her anyways, and the Maternity shoot is just a little add on...I'll just have to think about it for another week or so I guess.

Your case is different too, because you have tried so hard for so long, and if you think this might be your only chance, don't end up regretting it. Maybe see if the photographer would cut you a deal for being a long term customer, give you a deal on a maternity package along with an infant package, that way they know they'll get more of your business...

That is a good idea Heather...I should find out if she would.  I think I will just wait until I am 24 weeks to call her about this though, just so in my brain I am safe and not jinxing anything (like buying nearly everything hasn't done that already lmao)  Pregnancy sure does trun one into a crazy person huh?

I'm lucky that DH is an amateur photographer and has the backdrops and lighting to do a professional shoot at home. He did mine both at 35 weeks. I think it's totally worth it to shell out the cash to have some done. I really treasure my pics. I still have the one of me with Jackson hanging in our living room.

Doesn't Denise and MA have good cameras.  (I think that was bad grammar  lol) I have seen some of their landscape pics and they both do awesome.  Why don't you get one of them to take some as a test run and if you love them you have your maternity pics and you don't have to pay a ton.  I think it would be at least worth a try.

I think I have Heather's cheap skate personality.  lol

We have a good camera too...we would just need to really learn how to use the exposures.  And it would cost me more to go out to BC, lmao!  I think I am going to go to my photographer...I think it will be worth it.

Well it was just a thought since you are trying to make regular visits with MA and the boys anyway.

If you do the professional ones you won't regret it.  I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.  lol

I'm so happy my cheapskate personality isn't alone lmao I'm totally comfortable with asking for a deal. I don't even bat an eye lol
I know my guy who does Eli's pictures (I only see him when he's not charging sitting fees, lol) he would do a package for me if I asked. He's really nice. So if you know your photographer they're generally willing to work with you happy

I think you should do it.  You have the money, you want it, and you don't know if this will ever happen again.   So go for it.  I'd wait until 30 weeks.  You'll be "cute" big, but not so crazy big that fork lifts will be involved :)  lmao

We did it with Kaelin at 38 weeks. The only reason I waited that long was because it was our 5 year anniversary at 38 weeks and our baby book had a place for a wedding pic and then a maternity pic next to it. I thought it was neat that the date was exactly 5 years apart.

I'd definitely get some taken, but hunt around and try and find ones you like for ideas first. I had ones done when I was pg with Jasper, and I liked them okay, but didn't love them. They were all about hands on the belly and.. I dunno, I don't stand that way, so it just looked weird to me. LOL I mean, it was pretty darn obvious I had a pregnant belly even without putting my hand underneath it, ya know? (Or one on top and one under, which felt even weirder.. like I was trying to "pop" it. lmao I'm such a freak.) With my second one, I did some on my own, and I LOVE those. Even though I don't miss being pregnant at all. I'm so glad I documented it though, and that I've got "good" pics to look back at and go "MAN my belly got all round." *hehe* You could probably do them yourself if you want to too.. I just stood by our big window and hung a black fleecey blanket on the wall behind me. I think I was around 36-37 weeks when I did mine. When I worked at Penney's and we had people ask when, we tended to suggest about 34-35 weeks. Baby SHOULDN'T be coming then (so no big danger of missing your appt because you're, say, giving birth to the belly lump instead. *hehe*) and you're belly is most definitely round, even if you're a "late bloomer".

Here's the belly pics I did with just a black blanket:
