Momma to Kaelin and Sean

It makes me sad that the only sand castles Kaelin will build this summer will be in her sand box instead of the beach.

It's pretty gross.  They finally made their way here (we've been shielded by the barrier islands until now).  Bert is gonna go to the beach and check it out.   The smell is pretty bad too.  Especially with it being so hot.  :(

I'm just sad all the way around......and how little we're willing to take down a corporation that has no respect for our livelihoods, ecosystems, or the planet in general.

frown  It just makes me so sad!

We went out to Sombrero Reef - off Marathon - and snorkeled while we were int he Keys.  The reef was more beautiful than it has been in years.  The kids were sqealing from the time they got in the water until I dragged them out.  The fish were amazing!!

I cannot imagine the oil coating that reef, killing everything there and making an experience like that impossible to duplicate  frown

I saw them talking about tar balls rolling up on the beaches out there yesterday. That is very sad.

They are calling this the July 4th that never happened because of this.

The whole thing makes me want to cry, beaches ruined, animals killed and their homes ruined and no one seeming to care to make it better! What ARE they doing anyway? I never hear of anything good happening frown

We live 20 miles from the beach and during the summer that is where we spend our weekends. We haven't been to the beach since winter. It's especially hard when the boys ask to go and I have to explain why we can't.  frown Many of the bp's around here have signs up that say "locally owned and operated."
I've read some awful things that are going on with the marine life, sea turtles especially.
