This story just made the news here.  Twin girls were attacked in their cots by a fox!  Apparently it just came into the house.
I have heard people saying that it doesn't ring true, sounds a bit dodgy.  But if you were going to make up a story, I'm sure you wouldn't pick a fox attack - it's just so improbable!
We have foxes round us, we see them in the field behind us, on the road and the come into the garden sometimes and I've never given it a second thought.

They're really not very big at all though.  Bigger than a cat, but only as large as a smallish dog.  Maybe just a shade bigger than a cocker spaniel, but very slightly built.  But I imagine they'd give a nasty bite.
But it seems really strange to me that any animal would go into a house and randomly attack people there.  I'm not doubting in the slightest that it's true - it's just really baffling.

yeah, they seem skittish to me as well.  But they are definitely getting a lot bolder, and they had some footage of the foxes in that area, and they do seem incredibly bold.  Not like pets, but not scared of humans and modern life at all.
but it's the unprovoked attack I find odd.  I can totally understand that a fox would bite if you tried to take food off it or something, it's the unprovoked part that surprises me.

I can see it being true, see foxes here are rarely around so if they see people they run! But bears, cougars, deer they would walk into your house and the cougars and bears would take a bite if hungry.

We have had a bear break in through a window in our town... it went through the screen...
