I was just wondering if any of you have tried one of those breathable crib bumpers?
The bumper I have on Chances crib is pretty much worthless. I raises up and he pushes it down to see out.  His legs have gotten stuck in the slats, which really scares me.  Is there anything you can do about this?? Maybe there's some other product I don't know about.

I found these that go all the way up and down so that he can't use them to stand on or push up or down.

Those are cool!
I took Eli's out when he started trying to use them for anything, but he often would wake up with his head pushed against the rail and have a big red mark for awhile frown

I never used them, because the advice we're given is not to use them when they're newborn, because they stop airflow round the baby.  Then you can't use them again when baby can sit up, or use them to pull up on or whatever.  So I couldnt' really figure out exactly when I would be able to use them!  So I just didn't buy any. :)

I know they say here never to use them either they can stop airflow, but I used them for Dave for ages because he never went near them in his crib and never tried to climb on them at all. Alexa's were in for a while since I could never figure out how 2 feet of space on either side of baby could stop airflow anyway. but then she started to push on them and pull on them and such so I took them out. She still crams her head against the bars, but she learned pretty quick not to stick her feet between the slats.

Yeah I used them for both my kids because Eli never went near them, laid in one spot all night and Audrey is swaddled and she doesn't move much either.

I also saw at Babies R Us (I think) that they have bumper pads that go around each individual slat instead of going all the way around the crib. So they can still get a limb out, but it's padded at least.

I have been trying to decide if I should use mine.  I did buy the one that came with the set because it was super super cute.....now I'm not so sure, guess I will see if he ever goes near them.

Brenda,
Thanks for the link to those! That would really keep him in!

Yes, bumpers look really cute, but I never really realized they are kinda worthless, well at least the ones like I have.  I think for now, I'm going to at least take mine out.  It seems if he's going to hit his head on the side, it would be if he's sitting up anyway, so its not like the bumper would really prevent that.  I'm already going to have to lower his mattress, he's trying to get up over the side wigging
